# Girder (Advanced Variation) \[CG]

A cast-in-place pre/post-tensioned girder whose cross-section is defined at multiple control points, allowing a non-linear variation along the span. Use **Girder (Basic Variation)** when a simple start-to-end variation is enough.

## Girder Parameters

**Girder Layout:** The girder layout line this girder is placed along.

**Girder Start-End Section:** Table of section control points along the girder. Each row gives the support line, station offset and the assigned section, and the girder section is interpolated between successive rows.

## FEA

**Supports:** Support lines or objects the girder is supported at in the analytical model.

**Long. Mesh Size:** Maximum finite-element size along the girder (default: 120).

**Expansion joint end releases:** Table of end releases applied at expansion joints along the girder.

**Rigid Section:** Section used for the rigid links that connect the girder to the substructure at support locations.

**# of Result Extraction St.:** Number of stations along the girder at which composite analysis results are extracted (default: 60).

## Referencing Objects

**Structure States:** Construction stage objects that stage this girder. (Read-only)

**Temporary Supports:** Temporary Support objects that reference this girder. (Read-only)

**Decks:** Deck objects carried by this girder. (Read-only)

**Tendons:** Tendon objects running along this girder. (Read-only)

**Strands:** Strand objects running along this girder. (Read-only)

**Bracings:** Bracing objects connected to this girder. (Read-only)

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.openbrim.org/templates/custom-girder-bridge-workflow/superstructure-cg/cip-pre-post-tensioned-girders-cg/girder-advanced-variation-cg.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
