# Continuity Diaphragm \[PIG]

## Continuity Diaphragm

**Connected Girders at Start (Downstation):** To create the 3D geometry for the continuity diaphragm, input for the downstation girder is required.

**Connected Girders at End (Upstation):** To create the 3D geometry for the continuity diaphragm, input for the upstation girder is required.

**Depth:** The depth of the graphical representation of the diaphragm can be defined here.

**Additional Overhang Length Transverse Dir. (Left):** The additional overhang length distance from the center of the leftmost girder towards the left side of the bridge can be defined along the alignment direction.

**Additional Overhang Length Transverse Dir. (Right):** The additional overhang length distance from the center of the rightmost girder towards the right side of the bridge can be defined along the alignment direction.

**Thickness (Downstation w\.r.t. Support Line):** The thickness of the continuity diaphragm for downstation w\.r.t. support line.

**Thickness (Upstation w\.r.t. Support Line):** The thickness of the continuity diaphragm for upstation w\.r.t. support line.

**Material :** The material of the continuity diaphragm can be defined here.

## FEM

**Cap Connection \[YES/NO]:** The cap connection finite element is a connection element positioned between cap and diaphragm top nodes. Please choose "YES" if you wish to generate this element.

**Cap Connection Type \[Rigid/Pin]:** The cap connection finite element can be defined as rigid or pinned here.

**Rigid Section (Cap Connection):** Section assigned to the cap connection element when the cap connection is enabled. Required when **Cap Connection** is set to YES and drives the stiffness of the rigid link between the cap and the diaphragm top nodes.

**Deck Connection \[YES/NO]:** The cap connection can be defined to be made with the deck here. If you want to create the element connection with the deck, please choose "YES". The option "YES" should be used if the diaphragm is being constructed at the same stage as the deck pouring. Otherwise, for staged construction where the diaphragm is constructed prior to the deck, this parameter should be set to "NO" to ensure the correct FEM is generated.

## Quantities

**Rebar Density(per cubic yard):** Reinforcement density used to estimate the rebar weight in the diaphragm, expressed as weight of rebar per unit volume of concrete. Drives the computed Rebar Weight quantity takeoff for this diaphragm.

# Agent Instructions: Querying This Documentation

If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.openbrim.org/templates/precast-i-girder-bridge-workflow/superstructure-pig/diaphragm-pig/continuity-diaphragm-pig.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
