# End Diaphragm \[SPIG]

End diaphragms at the extremities of a span are modeled using this workflow item.

**Diaphragm Location \[Start/End]:** Defines where the diaphragm is placed — at the Start or End of the span — or at a manually specified station.

**Connected Girders:** Girders connected to the end diaphragm. The 3D and FE geometry is derived from the picked girders.

**Depth:** Vertical depth (Z axis) of the diaphragm.

**Additional Overhang Length Transverse Dir. (Left):** Distance from the leftmost girder centerline to the left edge of the diaphragm in the transverse direction (looking upstation along PGL).

**Additional Overhang Length Transverse Dir. (Right):** Distance from the rightmost girder centerline to the right edge of the diaphragm.

**Thickness (Downstation w\.r.t. Support Line):** Thickness of the diaphragm measured downstation from the support line.

**Thickness (Upstation w\.r.t. Support Line):** Thickness measured upstation from the support line.

**Material:** Concrete material assigned to the end diaphragm.

## FEM

**Cap Connection \[Yes/No]:** When Yes, the FE beam of the end diaphragm is generated to connect the bearing and the deck separately to the diaphragm; when No, the FE beam only connects the bearing to the diaphragm.

**Cap Connection Type \[Rigid/Pin]:** Selects rigid or pinned behavior for the cap connection when Cap Connection is Yes; shown as Not Applicable when Cap Connection is No.

**Rigid Section (Cap Connection):** Section used for the rigid link between the diaphragm and the supporting pier cap when Cap Connection is enabled.

**Deck Connection \[Yes/No]:** When Yes, the FE beam connects the diaphragm to the deck.

# Agent Instructions: Querying This Documentation

If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.openbrim.org/templates/spliced-i-girder-bridge-workflow/superstructure-spig/diaphragm-spig/end-diaphragm-spig.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
