This section defines the cross-sectional properties for girders, columns, caps, shafts, and barriers. Sections can be imported from the library or created manually.
Part 1: Adding Sections to the Project
Step 1: Navigate to Sections
Navigate to Properties > Sections in the tree view.
Step 2: Import Girder Section
Click the three-dots icon on the first cell under Name and select Import Section .
Select OpenBrIM Bridge Objects > Precast I Girder Sections > AASHTO I BEAMS > AASHTO_TYPE_III_BEAM and assign material Fc_6ksi .
Step 3: Import Circular Sections
Import circular sections for shafts and columns:

Step 4: Import Rectangular Sections
Import rectangular sections for caps:
Section Name
Width
Depth
Material
Step 5: Import Barrier Section
Select OpenBrIM Bridge Objects > Barrier Sections > General > SingleSlopeRight .
Step 6: Create Rigid Section
Add a new row and define a RigidSection for rigid link connections.

Part 2: Adding Rebars and Strands to Sections
This part defines the reinforcement details for each section.
AASHTO_TYPE_III_BEAM
Click the three-dots icon on the AASHTO_TYPE_III_BEAM row to open the Section Editor.
Top Rebar: Click the + icon and select Rebar . Configure:
Profile: ASTMA615No8 | Material: A615_60 | Reference Edge: Top
Distance to Outer Surface: 2 in | Spacing: 4 in | Count: 4 rebars
Bottom Rebar:
Profile: ASTMA615No8 | Material: A615_60 | Reference Edge: Bottom
Distance to Outer Surface: 2 in | Spacing: 2 in | Count: 8 rebars
Prestressing Tendons: Click the + icon and select Tendon .

Circle_exist_column
Open the Section Editor for Circle_exist_column.
Navigate to the Circular Layout tab:
Profile: ASTMA615No11 | Material: A615_60
Radius: 14 in | Count: 20 rebars
Rectangle_exist_EBcap
Open the Section Editor for Rectangle_exist_EBcap.
Use the Draw Rebar Points tab to define rebar at top, middle, and bottom:
Open the Section Editor for PierCap_exist.
Use the Draw Rebar Points tab:

After completing all steps, verify that all sections have the correct reinforcement definitions by opening each section in the Section Editor.
