15. Design Summary

Follow the next steps to analyze and design.

Step 1: Click Analyze icon.

If you have made changes to the model after the analysis and want to use the old analysis results, you can refer to the Quick Tip below.

Quick Tip: Learn how to use previous analysis results

If you have made changes to an analyzed model and click the button to perform the analysis again, the question shown below will be asked. You can either continue with the saved old analysis results or click the analysis button again to update the analysis results.

Step 2: Click Design icon.

If you have made changes to the model after the design and want to use the old design results, you can refer to the Quick Tip below.

Quick Tip: Learn how to use previous design results

If you have made changes to an designed model and click the button to perform the design again, the question shown below will be asked. You can either continue with the saved old design results or click the design button again to update the design results.

Step 3: Design code check calculations are in progress.

Step 4: Click Report icon.

Step 5: Click Detailed Report button.

Step 6: Switch between the Summary Report tree view and review the results.

Step 7: Steel I Girder Code Check In the summary report, the code checks for the employed girder, code check station, limit state, additional provisions (Appendix A6, Appendix B6) (if any), and state specifications (if any) are presented along with the corresponding design check parameters (D/C ratio, Pass/Fail State).

Step 8: Click on the "Detailed Report" icon. It will open a detailed code check report for Steel I Girder.

Step 9: Field Splice Code Check In the summary report, the code check parameters for the corresponding splices are presented for splice plates and bolts, considering the D/C ratio. These parameters specifically address the strength and service limit states.

Step 10: Click on the "Detailed Report" icon. It will open a detailed code check report for Field Splice.

Step 11: Cross Frame Code Check In the summary report form, the resultant code check values for each chord of the cross frame are presented.

Step 12: Click on the "Detailed Report" icon. It will open a detailed code check report for Cross Frame.

Step 13: Shear Stud Code Check

In this summary, the total number of passed and failed shear stud code check regions is presented.

Step 14: Click on the "Detailed Report" icon. It will open a detailed code check report for Shear Stud.

Step 15: Pier Cap Code Check

In the summary report, pier cap code checks are conducted using two design templates, namely for AASHTO (marked in red) and state specifications (marked in blue). The report presents the results of these code checks for the pier cap design.

Step 16: Click on the "Detailed Report" icon (marked in red). It will open a detailed code check report that includes pier cap code checks for flexure, shear, torsion, fatigue and reinforcement limits.

Step 17: Click on the "Detailed Report" icon (marked in blue). It will display state-specific checks in the detailed report.

Step 18: Pier Code Check

In the summary report, the pier column code check presents the results of code checks as either D/C ratios or in Pass/Fail form, accordingly.

Step 19: Click on the "Detailed Report" icon . It will open a detailed code check report that includes pier column code checks for axial force-moment interaction, axial compression, shear, torsion, and reinforcement limits.

Step 20: Pier Footing Code Check

The summary report for pier footing code check includes D/C values and Pass/Fail status for flexure, one-way shear, two-way shear, and reinforcement limits.

Step 21: Click on the "Detailed Report" icon . It will open a detailed code check report that includes pier footing code checks.

Step 22: Pile Capacity Check

The summary report for pile capacity code check reports the maximum D/C value against the specified pile capacity.

Step 23: Click on the "Detailed Report" icon . It will open a detailed code check report that includes the most critical results, as well as all the results from different limit states.

Step 24: Load Rating Code Check

In the summary report, you will find load rating reports for the employed girder, load rating station, limit state, and vehicles. These reports will include the corresponding rating factors, section properties, member capacities and analysis results. Additionally, a separate overall summary table will highlight the most critical code check stations, providing a concise overview of their rating results.

Step 25: Click on the "Detailed Report" icon . It will open a detailed code check report.
