This section defines cross-sectional properties for U-girders, columns, pier caps, end bents, and piles, including reinforcement layouts.
Step 1: Adding Sections to the Project
Navigate to Sections
Navigate to Properties > Sections in the tree view.
Import U-Girder Sections
Click the three-dots icon on the first cell of Name and select Import Section.
Import the following U-girder sections:
Library Path
Section Name
Material
OpenBrIM Bridge Objects > Precast U Girder Sections > WS DOT
OpenBrIM Bridge Objects > Precast U Girder Sections > WS DOT
Import Basic Shapes
Import basic shapes for substructure sections:
Create the following sections:
Section Name
Shape
Dimensions
Material
Create Rigid Section
Add a new row and enter RigidSection as the name. Assign RigidMaterial to this section.
Completed section definitions are shown below.
Step 2: Adding Rebars to Sections
U78G5 Reinforcement
Click the three-dots icon on any cell of the U78G5 row to open the Section Editor panel.
Click the + icon and select Rebar. Enter the following parameters:
U54G5 Reinforcement
Open the Section Editor for U54G5 and add the same reinforcement layout as U78G5.
EBSec Reinforcement (End Bent)
Open the Section Editor for EBSec and add rebars on all four edges:
Top Edge:
Bottom Edge: Same as Top Edge with Reference Edge = Bottom
Left Edge:
Right Edge: Same as Left Edge with Reference Edge = Right
PCSec Reinforcement (Pier Cap)
Open the Section Editor for PCSec and add rebars on all four edges using the same approach as EBSec, with:
Top/Bottom: 8 rebars at 4 in spacing, 2 in cover
Left/Right: 6 rebars at 5 in spacing, 2 in cover
ColSec Reinforcement (Column)
Open the Section Editor for ColSec and navigate to the Circular Layout tab.
Enter the following parameters:
After completing these steps, all sections have their reinforcement defined and are ready for use in the bridge model.
